Privacy Policy

Effective date: May 2026

Trova is a cooking app that helps you decide what to make from what you already have. We take your privacy seriously, and we've tried to write this policy in plain English. If anything here is unclear, email us at support@trovaapp.co and we'll explain.

What we collect

When you create an account or join the waitlist, we collect your email address. Inside the app, we store the pantry and ingredient data you enter manually or capture through receipt scanning, along with any recipes you import or save.

With your permission, Trova accesses your camera and photo library so you can scan grocery receipts and recipe cards. Images are processed to extract text and are not retained beyond what you choose to save.

We also collect anonymous usage analytics and crash reports so we can fix bugs and understand which features are useful. These reports do not identify you personally.

How we use it

We use your data to run the app - matching recipes to your pantry, keeping your shopping list in sync, sending you the occasional product update if you've opted in, and improving Trova over time. We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.

How we store it

Your data is stored on secure servers operated by reputable cloud providers, encrypted in transit and at rest. We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal data within 7 days, except where we're legally required to retain certain records.

Third parties

Subscriptions and payments inside Trova are handled by Apple In-App Purchase, with subscription state managed through RevenueCat. We never see or store your payment card details - Apple handles all of that.

We use a small number of trusted service providers to host the app, send transactional email, and collect anonymous analytics and crash reports. These providers process data on our behalf under strict contractual terms and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.

Your rights

Under the UK GDPR and EU GDPR, you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, correct it if it's wrong, ask us to delete it, ask us to restrict how we use it, and receive a copy in a portable format. You can also object to certain types of processing, and withdraw consent at any time where we rely on it.

To exercise any of these rights, email support@trovaapp.co. We'll respond within 30 days. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) or your local data protection authority.

Children

Trova is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under that age. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we'll delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to how we handle your data, we'll update this page and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or by email before the changes take effect.
