Best Yummly alternatives in 2026
Yummly closed in December 2024 and took saved recipe collections with it. These are the apps worth moving to, compared honestly on what they actually do.
What happened to Yummly
Yummly shut down permanently on 20 December 2024, after Whirlpool laid off the team behind it. The apps and website went offline together.
There was no bulk export, so most people lost their saved recipes and collections outright. That is why so many former users are still looking for a replacement rather than simply switching.

Which one should you pick
Trova
Best if your problem is I have ingredients and no idea what to cook. You add what is in your kitchen, and Trova matches recipes to it, tracks nutrition per serving and imports recipes from the web, TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, a photo or plain text. It is free on the App Store with an optional Pro tier from £3.99 a month. It is iOS only, so if you are on Android or want a desktop app, one of the others below will suit you better.
Paprika
Best if you want your recipes stored offline, forever, for a single payment. £4.99 buys the app outright, and it runs on iOS, Android, Mac and Windows with syncing between them. It is genuinely better than Trova for desktop cooks and for anyone who wants a durable archive they own. It will not tell you what to make from your pantry, because it does not track one.
Mealime
Best free meal planning if you are happy to shop for the plan rather than cook from what you already have. It builds a week of meals with a tidy shopping list and solid nutrition info, and it is on iOS and Android. Recipe import is limited, so it is a poor fit if you have a big collection to bring across.
Samsung Food
Best if what you miss about Yummly is the big browsable recipe library. It is free, works on iOS, Android and the web, imports recipes and includes planning and nutrition. Pantry support is partial rather than central, and the app pushes fairly hard toward Samsung appliances.
Plan to Eat
Best for households planning a full week of shopping around set meals. Its drag and drop planner and shopping list are the strongest of the group, and it works on iOS, Android and the web. It is subscription only from about £4 a month and does not do nutrition tracking or pantry matching.
Frequently asked questions
Is Yummly gone for good?
Yes. Yummly shut down permanently on 20 December 2024 and the apps and website are no longer available. Whirlpool, the parent company, laid off the team and closed the service rather than selling it on.
Can I get my Yummly recipes back?
In most cases, no. Yummly never offered a bulk export, so saved collections went with the shutdown. If you still have recipe links in your browser history, notes or bookmarks, you can paste those URLs into an app such as Trova or Paprika to rebuild your library one recipe at a time.
What is the closest free Yummly alternative?
Samsung Food is the closest free like for like replacement if you mainly want a large browsable recipe library with saving and planning. Trova is free on the App Store too, and is the better fit if your real question is what you can cook with the ingredients already in your kitchen.
Does any app track what is in my kitchen?
Trova does. You add ingredients once, and it matches recipes against what you actually have, flags what is missing and keeps track as you cook. Samsung Food has partial pantry features, and Paprika, Mealime and Plan to Eat do not track a pantry at all.
